Macron to Engage Iran on Reopening of Strait of Hormuz

Emmanuel Macron has announced plans to hold discussions with Iranian authorities aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, following his recent two-day visit to Andorra.

Speaking to reporters, Macron emphasized that an international coalition has already been formed to safeguard the waterway, restore stability, and demonstrate unified global backing for its reopening. He expressed optimism that diplomatic efforts could persuade key stakeholders to move toward a resolution in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Jean-Noël Barrot underscored the need for significant concessions from Tehran to resolve the ongoing crisis. Addressing the United Nations Security Council, he stated that a durable solution would require a fundamental shift in Iran’s position, including major compromises.
