UAE Plans Major Shift to AI-Driven Government Services Within Two Years

The United Arab Emirates has announced an ambitious plan to transition half of its government operations and services to autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) systems within the next two years.

The initiative was revealed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, in a statement shared on the social media platform X. According to him, the move aligns with directives from the UAE President and represents the launch of a new government model powered by advanced AI technologies.

Sheikh Mohammed stated that 50 percent of government sectors, services, and operational processes will be managed by what he described as “Agentic AI” — systems capable of independently analyzing data, making decisions, executing tasks, and continuously improving performance in real time.

He emphasized that this transformation will position the UAE as the first government in the world to operate at such a scale using autonomous systems. AI, he noted, is no longer just a supporting tool but is evolving into a core executive partner that will enhance service delivery, speed up decision-making, and boost overall efficiency.

The transition will follow a clearly defined two-year roadmap. Government entities will be evaluated based on how quickly they adopt AI, the effectiveness of its implementation, and their ability to integrate these technologies into the redesign of public sector operations.

This initiative reflects the UAE’s broader strategy to lead in digital transformation and innovation, particularly in the application of artificial intelligence across governance.
